09:00 – Meeting at the hotel by the guide. Transfer from the hotel to “Icheri sheher” Old Cty.
Near Gosha Gala your walking tour will start. Stroll the medieval heart of Baku the Icheri sheher castle, discovering the mysteries and legends of Icheri Sheher (Old Town) Learn about the ruling dynasty of Azerbaijan lived in 11-14 centuries by visiting the “Shirvanshah’s Palace”.
The Maiden Tower also known locally as “Giz Galasi”, located in the Old City of Baku was built in the 12th century. İn addition, Maiden tower together with the “Shirvanshahs’ Palace”, was inscribed in 2001 under the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments as cultural property. “Juma” Mosque Located in the historic Icheri Sheher, the mosque has been rebuilt several times. The present Friday Mosque was built in 1899 under the financing of Baku merchant Haji Shikhlali Dadashov. A minaret, constructed in 1437, adjoins Friday Mosque.
11:00 – Transfer from “Icheri Sheher” Old City to fire temple “Ateshgakh”.
The territory of the temple is known to the world due to its unique natural phenomenon – the burning of natural gas (gas, breaking onto the surface, lights up after contacting oxygen).
The temple in its present shape was built in the 17th – 18th centuries, but the history of the place goes deep into the centuries – roughly from the beginning of our era the territory hosted the sanctuary of Zoroastrians.
13:00 – Lunch at the local restaurant.
14:30 – Transfer to “Mardakan” Castle.
The main points of interest of Mardakan are its castles with watchtowers, technically being keeps. There are two keeps – one being with a round tower, the other with a quadrangular tower. These towers are parts of the general chain of towers and other fortresses over the Absheron peninsula. When enemies attacked, the tops of these towers were lit up with oil to warn the population of the approaching danger. The round tower was built in the 13th century and is 15.5 meters in diameter with three stories. The quadrangular tower dates from 14th century and is about 25 meters tall with five stories.
16:00 – Transfer from “Mardakan” castle to burning mountain “Yanardag”.
One of the most famous and popular tourist places of the “eternal flame” in Azerbaijan is the mountain of “Yanardag”. Actually, it is rather a hill than a mountain, with natural gas burning on its slope from ancient times.
18:00 – Return to the hotel. Excursion finishes with good memories.
